Bio

Dayle Alison Walker is a singer and songwriter whose style is eclectic, comprising country, folk, jazz / blues and soul. Dayle writes songs about life, love, spirit and people, songs that touch the heart. Her new album ‘Sanctuary’, produced by Hugh McDonald, features some of Australia’s finest musicians, will be launched on December 5th at the Albert Park Port Lounge. After a lengthy ‘retirement’, Dayle has found a new lease on her musical life, performing as a duo with Brian Norris on bass guitar and vocals, and as the group ‘FolkUs’, they’re joined by Cathy Spillane on uke, guitar and vocals, and Cliff Ellery on guitar and vocals . Throughout her early years as a singer, Dayle released an album with Mushroom Records, and toured with artists such as Marcia Hines, Steve Groves (Tintin) and Johnny Chester. As a studio session singer she worked with well-known artists, such as Tommy Emmanuel, Paul Grabowski and Mike Brady. Dayle has performed in a wide variety of genres and settings, in country music and acoustic folk, with touring bands, in cabaret and theatre, television variety shows, and for many years sang with Steve Ball (Kush) on piano at jazz piano bars in Sydney. Drawing on all of these influences, Dayle’s mellow voice brings a touching resonance to songs of depth, humour and warmth.
